Vegan Pizzerias in NYC

If you’re looking for a full vegan experience, look no further than these two stellar spots!

#1 Screamer’s Pizzeria

Locations in Crown Heights & Green Point
Can’t-miss pizza pie: The Old School — covered in-almond ricotta, vegan cheese, caramelized onion, broccolini, and finished with garlic oil.

If you’ve done any Googling, there is a pretty good chance that you’ve already stumbled upon this retro vegan pizzeria — it was the first fully vegan pizzeria in NYC! While it helped pave the way for other vegan pizza options throughout NYC, it’s remained one of the favorites for its creativity!

No matter which Screamer’s location you visit, you’ll be greeted with everything from traditional cheese to pies covered in spiced seitan, sauerkraut, and Thousand Island — you can’t get a combo like that just anywhere! Once you’ve figured out your pizza order, you’ve also got to add an order of their ultra cheesy cheese bread or spicy seitan wings!

#2 Double Zero

65 2nd Ave, New York, NY 10003
Can’t miss pizza pie: The simple Potato covered in garlic cashew cream, potato slices, and rosemary.
If you’re looking for a spot for a sophisticated night out with killer vegan pizza, look no further than chic Double Zero! These pizza pies are anything but ordinary — all ingredients, from the dough to the nut-based cheeses, are house-made, and once topped, they head to custom-built wood-burning ovens!

The creative topping lineup is packed with creativity and flavor — truffle cashew cream, wild mushrooms, fennel pollen, basil sunflower pesto, and much more. You won’t find anything lackluster here! On top of pizza, you’ll also want to sample their creamy cacio e pepe, and zesty meatballs and save room for dessert!

#3 Coletta

Can’t miss pizza pie: The sweet and salty combo of Fig Jam & Prosciutto ‘za
This vegan restaurant in Gramercy is ready to take you on an incredible culinary journey through Italy — make sure you come very hungry! The chic spot has crafted an unforgettable menu filled with creative pizza, house-made pasta, traditional desserts, and much more.

While their whole menu is stella, their creative pizzas are showstoppers! They are baked in their specialty brick ovens for the best texture and flavor and covered in wild mushrooms, truffle oil, fig jam, prosciutto, and much more. Just make sure you leave room for dessert; you won’t want to miss their house-made strawberry panna cotta.

Oh wait, one more thing, in addition to being fully vegan, Coletta is also Kosher and gluten-free friendly.

Vegan-Friendly Pizza Spots in NYC & Brooklyn

Some pizzerias are more friendly to vegans than others, so to save you a little walking, be sure to visit these spots for the best options.

#4 Paulie Gee’s

60 Greenpoint Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11222 (Dine in only)
110 Franklin St, Brooklyn, NY 11222 (Slices for carryout)
If you’re familiar with the vegan pizza scene in Chicago, you might have already had the chance to sample Paulie Gee’s famous woodfired pizza pies! Well, if you haven’t had the chance, in NYC, you have two ways to get your hands on a slice.

If you’re looking for a night out, slide into their cozy restaurant on Greenpoint Ave., here they only offer their iconic pies for dine-in as they are absolutely the best straight out of the oven. If you don’t have time to dine in, you can head to their slice shop on Franklin St., but the vegan options here might be limited. Once you see their vegan menu, I think you’ll be making the time to dine in; there are over nine different vegan pizza options! These pies are covered in locally sourced ingredients, dollops of cashew ricotta, chili oil, and more.

#5 Vinnie’s Pizzeria

148 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11249
This neighborhood pizzeria has been serving NYC since the 60s — they’re well known for their creative and inventive pies and haven’t deviated much from their original recipes! What’s even better, they didn’t forget about their vegan friends as they crafted some of the best pizza pies in NYC!

Their vegan menu is as delicious as it is humorous, from Spicey Slicey (chick’n, jalapenos, mozzarella, cheddar, and hot sauce) to Tirestorm (pepperoni, mozzarella, cheddar, and basil). If you love a good laugh, don’t miss their famous specials board, which of course, features specialty pies but also some good puns and a little artistic creativity. It might sound silly, but it’s been featured on Buzzfeed, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and countless other magazines!

#6 Sottocasa Pizzeria

298 Atlantic Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11201 (their Harlem location doesn’t have Violife yet)
For one of the most authentic Neapolitan pizzas, you’ve got to come to this Brooklyn spot! This light and chewy pizza topped with San Marzano tomatoes will transport you to the streets of Italy – all you’ll need to complete the adventure is an espresso and scoop of gelato (vegan, of course).

They don’t have a specific vegan menu, like some other pizzerias, but they’ve got creamy Violife cheese that you can add to any of their veggie pies or make your own! Whichever you choose, you won’t be disappointed.

#7 Tufino Pizzeria

36-08 Ditmars Blvd, Astoria, NY 11105
Neapolitan pizza lovers, you’ve got one more spot to try! This family-run shop will go head-to-head with its specialty pie baked in unique wood-burning ovens handmade in Naples with volcanic lava ash! The construction gives the pizza a flavor you can usually only find in Italy.

On the vegan side, you can easily make any of their pizzas vegan, but you won’t want to stop at pizza. They also have meatball parmigiana, creamy alfredo, cheese sticks, and many other Italian favorites veganized! Go ahead and get one of everything – no judgment here!

#8 Artistic Pizza

123 W 3rd St, New York, NY 10012
This NY-style pizza joint prides itself on creative pies for all its clients, including vegan and gluten-free friends! Their vegan pies include traditional cheese and pepperoni, but they’ve also got some one-of-a-kind pies that you’ve got to try!

For something slightly spicey, go for the Buffalo ‘za topped with spicey vegan buffalo chick’n and vegan ranch dressing. If you’d rather skip their creativity and do your own thing, you can! Go wild and build your own pie any way you’d like it with vegan bacon, extra cheese, Beyond meat, shrooms, and more.

#9 Williamsburg Pizza

Locations in Brooklyn & Manhattan
This award-winning pizzeria has been hailed the best by the likes of Food and Wine, The New York Times and even welcomed a slew of celebs like Paul Rudd and Tony Hawk! With a reputation like that, it’s hard not to want to make it your first pizza spot! But you might be thinking, yea, but what about the vegan options? No worries there!

Whether you’re craving a thick deep-dish approved by grandma and covered in tomato, garlic, red onions, spinach, mushrooms, and olives, or a traditional round topped with Be-Hive pepperoni, you can here! Of course, if you don’t love what they’ve created, you can always create your own awarding-winning vegan pie!

#10 Pizza Collective

2060 Broadway, New York, NY 10023
Pizza connoisseurs will appreciate all the effort this spot puts into creating their light and airy dough! Their unique technique involves a long fermentation process, 96 hours to be exact, and they only use Italian flour — this process creates some of the lightest pizzas in the world!

The best way for vegans to sample this specialty pie is by creating their own with Violife cheese, sauteed cremini mushrooms, fresh basil, and many more tasty veggies.

#11 Two Boots

Locations in Brooklyn & Manhattan
This bright and colorful pizzeria pays homage to two culinary hot spots — New Orleans and Italy — which is quite the combo, right? The two styles come together in a unique style that they consider Cajun-Italian, which is definitely not something you’ll find just anywhere!

While they love New Orleans, with one look at their menu, it’s evident that their first love is pizza! You’ll find almost every kind of pie you can think of (and many you probably wouldn’t), including a full vegan menu with eight tasty options! Deciding what to order is a challenge. Veggie lovers shouldn’t miss the Super Vegan topped with broccoli, artichokes, onions, shiitake mushrooms, basil pesto, sweet red pepper pesto, and two kinds of vegan cheese!

#12 Unregular Pizza

135 4th Ave, New York, NY 10003
With a name like that don’t expect anything ordinary at this Roman-style pizzeria. This delicious spot was born during the pandemic, while owner Gabriele Lamonaca looked for ways to express his creativity — lucky for New Yorkers he chose his beloved Roman-style pizza!

The vegan-friendly menu offers multiple pies covered in either traditional cheese with garlic oil or a mix of wild mushrooms (Shimeji, Cremini and Oyster) but the vegan-friendliness doesn’t end with pizzas! The menu also features garlicky focaccia bread and a meaty chick’n parm sandwich!
