Where to Find Vegan Ice Cream in Portland

#1 Petunia’s Pies & Pastries

610 SW 12th Ave, Portland, OR 97205
Petunia’s is well known for its delicious vegan and gluten-free cakes and treats, but you probably wouldn’t have guessed that they also make ice cream! This vegan bakeshop can do it all! No matter if it’s the dead of summer or during a blizzard, you must wander in here and get comfortable in their cozy café over a few scoops of their house-made ice cream.

Their ice cream menu is lengthy (and all vegan, did I mention that already?), so come prepared for a sugar high! Some of their fan-favorite flavors include cookie dough, salted caramel cookie bar, unicorn magic, peanut brittle, and more. While getting a couple of scoops on top of a chocolate dipper cone is fabulous, the ice cream fun doesn’t end there. They also have Choco Tacos, sundaes, ice cream cakes, and ice cream sandwiches!

#2 Kate’s Ice Cream

3713 N Mississippi Ave, Portland, OR 97227
Gluten-free friends, you might be getting a little spoiled in Portland — on top of being fully vegan, Kate’s is also gluten-free (but you’d have no idea; it’s so delicious)! When you walk in, you’ll be smitten with the mint chip and pastel pink décor, but as soon as you look at the menu, you’ll be in full-blown love!

These house-made flavors are far from basic — Marionberry cobbler, salted peanut butter brittle, cookie monster, and so much more. You also can’t skip their crunchy, sweet, house-made waffle cones, which are also perfect for loading up multiple flavors. Just like at Petunia’s, you can dive into a couple of sweet scoops or go big! They can concoct a delicious fudge brownie sundae, ice cream cookie sandwiches, ice cream cakes, and more.

#3 Virtuous Pie

1126 SE Division St #200, Portland, OR 97202
You might be thinking, wait a minute, why is a vegan pizzeria on an ice cream list? Well, that’s a very good question, and the simple answer is that they also create small-batch plant-based ice cream! Is there a better combo than cheesy ‘za and ice cream? I don’t think so!

After ordering one of their epic pizza pies loaded with spicy buffalo cauliflower or truffle almond ricotta, make sure to remind yourself to save room for dessert! This pizzeria has cornered the market by creating ultra-decadent plant-based ice cream in a variety of flavors like double chocolate brownie, raspberry cheesecake, ballpark popcorn, and more! You can enjoy an ice cream flight (three delicious flavors), ice cream cookie sandwich, or with a warmed cookie or brownie in their seasonal skillet!

#4 Ice Queen

2012 SE 11th Ave, Portland, OR 97214
What started as a simple walk-up window hustling delicious paletas (traditional Mexican ice cream bars) has grown into a full-service treat kingdom! The ice cream queen behind this plant-based treat-dom was dead set on bringing her Chicana culture to the diverse food scene in Portland — becoming the first (and possibly only) paletaria in town!

Your visit must include sampling one of her veganized paletas, which come in so many tasty flavors like Oatchata, toasted coconut, Thai tea, and more (just make sure you add a delicious hot fudge or peanut butter drizzle over whatever you choose). On top of the paletas, they also have super creamy soft serve that you can enjoy on its own or as a Thiccflurry (a play on another popular ice cream treat from a fast-food giant that doesn’t need naming).

Their flavor lineup changes regularly, but you might find date cardamom, sun butter and jelly, blackberry cobbler, bourbon butter pecan, and many more. In addition to soft-serve, you might also want to consider trying their irresistible cookies and cream mylkshake or a fruity float!
