Can’t Miss Vegan & Vegan-Friendly Donut Shops in Portland

#1 Petunias Pastries & Pies

610 SW 12th Ave, Portland, OR 97205
There is a perfect reason that you need to get out of bed early on Saturday or Sunday morning, and it’s vegan and gluten-free donuts! This absolutely adorable baby pink bakery makes a to-die-for lineup of vegan and gluten-free sweets all week long, but on Saturdays and Sundays, they add gorgeous donuts to their menu!

This is the only spot (that I found) in Portland where you can find vegan and gluten-free donuts — most places avoid trying to add a gluten-free option because of cross-contamination, but that’s no problem here!

Their donut lineup changes weekly and includes seasonal inspirations like peppermint mocha, cherry pie, caramel apple crunch, Mayan chocolate, and many more! Even if you’re not vegan and gluten-free, these donuts and specialty treats will make your day!

#2 Doe Donuts

4110 NE Sandy Blvd, Portland, OR 97212
OMG will be the first words out of your mouth when you step foot into this woman-owned vegan donut and ice cream shop. These aren’t your ordinary chocolate and sprinkle-covered donuts; these are creative works of dough art!

The team behind Doe Donuts has crafted an incredible lineup of creative flavors you won’t find anywhere else! With one look at this menu, I guarantee you’ll find at least three you’ve got to try! Year-round you’ll always find favorites like Portland Fog (vanilla bean stuffed donut topped with an Earl Grey glaze and whipped cream) or The Sundae (fudge glazed donut topped with chocolate cake chunks, sprinkles, and waffle cone pieces).

In addition to delicious vegan donuts, they also have a variety of house-made ice creams like Birthday Cake, Maple Coffee, and Chipped Mint. Many of their ice cream flavors and waffle cones are gluten-free (sadly, none of the donuts are).

#3 Blue Star Donuts

Multiple locations throughout Portland
This vegan-friendly donut shop is making sure its vegan friends aren’t missing out on any of the sweet donut fun! No matter the week, you can always roll in here and find 4 – 5 vegan options and tasty donut bites!

Their flavors rotate regularly, but if you’re lucky, you’ll find fan favorites like Apple Brandy Crumble, Passionfruit Cake, or Tropical Delight! Most of their vegan offerings are cake donuts, but occasionally they may have one stuffed with an irresistible cream or chocolate.

Vegan bonus! If you visit the Blue Star Donut location on Mississippi Avenue, it is right down the street from Kate’s Ice Cream Shop, which is 100% plant-based and gluten-free. Just in case you’re in the mood for a full-on sugar rush!

#4 Voodoo Donuts

Two locations in Portland
Many credit Voodoo Donuts for kicking off Portland’s love affair with donuts! The brand started way back in 2003 in a small shop stuck between multiple nightclubs — at this time, they were the only donut shop in town!

Fast forward to today, they have two locations in Portland and locations in multiple states! Don’t be surprised if you’re greeted by a line of donut lovers when you walk up to one of their shops — their lineup of traditional and unique donut creations draws visitors far and wide.

While the shop isn’t entirely vegan, it is very vegan-friendly! You’ll find classic options like the Chocolate Ring (raised donut topped with chocolate glaze) to a Voodoo Doll shaped donut filled with raspberry jam and topped with chocolate frosting and a pretzel stake! Along with those, there are generally seven other vegan flavors to choose from too!

#5 Sesame Donuts

Multiple locations throughout Portland
When you walk into this Oregon donut chain, it’s not immediately apparent that there are vegan donut options. Maybe they are testing out different flavors or want us, vegans, to feel like we’re in a special secret donut society! We just asked what was available at their downtown location on Park Street.

Their vegan donut options are made-to-order vanilla or chocolate cake donuts that can be topped with chocolate, maple, cinnamon and sugar, or powdered sugar. If you like cake donuts, this might be the spot for you because you’ll get one that’s freshly made — nothing beats a warm donut covered in chocolate!
