Maybe one day… until that day, you need to hop in your car or plane and make it to these outrageously fantastic bakeries and ice cream shops. 

No matter what sinful treat you’re craving, you’re bound to find it in Portland, from sticky sweet cinnamon buns covered in cookies to decadent raw cheesecakes and everything in between!

Mouthwatering Vegan Bakeries in Portland

Whether you’re looking for a freshly made, plump donut stuffed with custard or a slice of rich, fluffy chocolate cake, you’ll find it and more at one of these Portland vegan bakeries!

Sweet Pea Baking Co

1205 SE Stark St, Portland, OR 97214
If you love cake, this is a spot that you need to check out. This charming vegan bakery has a massive lineup of cake flavors — chocolate decadence, confetti, cookies and cream, Elvis, lemon chiffon, and so much more! In addition to light and fluffy cakes, you’ll also find cupcakes, cheesecakes, and pies. If you need more than a slice of cake, no worries, they’ve got you covered! They accept special orders for all their sweet treats — just give them 72 hours to whip it up! They also have a small breakfast and lunch menu, in case you need more than a treat.

Vegan bonus! This yummy spot is next door to Cultured Kindness, a vegan cheese shop! You must pop in for a wheel of creamy cheese or one of their knock-your-socks-off grilled paninis!

Shoofly Vegan Bakery & Café

There is absolutely nothing you’ll want to shoo out of here — you’ll want every last sweet crumb they’ve got! There are so many things to love at this bakery — frosted soft-baked sugar cookies, sticky pecan buns, Boston cream cupcakes, berry-filled pies, and much more. Honestly, I have no idea how anyone chooses just one! While their sweet treats are king, they also have a small breakfast menu available Thursday – Saturday and feature house-made biscuits and gravy, quiche, breakfast sandwiches, and more.

Hail Snail

6550 N Interstate Ave, Portland, OR 97217
Don’t let the name fool you; there are no snails at this cinnamon-filled shop! If you’re an aficionado of cinnamon buns — traditional or creative — this spot is for you. If you’re a traditionalist, you’ll want to check out the Majesty, a Cinnasnail (cinnamon bun) topped with their trademark periwinkle blue royal icing and powdered sugar, but if you like to be adventurous, they’ve for something special for you! Start with a regular Cinnasnail, then load it with maple cream, crushed cookies, toasted marshmallows, or even potato chips! Don’t worry if you’re unsure which creative toppings go best together; they’ve taken the liberty of creating a slew of creative Cinnasnails! Gluten-free friends have no fear; they have an option for us too!

Unicorn Bakeshop

Unicorns do exist, and they’re covered in swirly buttercream and colorful sprinkles! Everything at this vegan bakeshop is downright magical. Their all-star lineup of cupcakes includes a creative mix of seasonally inspired flavors like egg nog and churro! And, if you fall head over heels in love with them, you don’t have to go into the bakery to get your fix; sign up for their cupcake club! Every month they will mail you six different kinds of cupcakes! Now, if you’re not really looking for cupcakes, don’t worry; the sweet fun doesn’t end there. They also have cookies, brownies, and bars. They even have gluten-free options!

Orange and Blossom Patisserie

The sweets at this vegan patisserie will send your senses into overdrive — they are a treat for the eyes and taste buds! Everything is seasonally inspired and created with fresh, local produce, from fluffy brown sugar-swirled brioche to buttery blueberry scones. Throughout the year, you’ll be delighted with the loveliest selection of sweet and savory pastries, from house-made focaccia with local herbs to delicate hazelnut cake and poached quince topped with almond frangipane on top of fresh brioche.

Doe Donuts

Portland is the land of donuts, which includes many vegan options! While you will find vegan donuts at a few other shops, for a fully vegan lineup, you can’t miss Doe! This little donut shop would even put Homer Simpson into a sugar coma — there are so many flavors you will want to try. Year-round you’ll always find favorites like a glazed salted vanilla bean or Portland Fog, along with an incredible lineup of seasonally inspired options like candy cane puppy chow, salted maple, pomegranate chocolate truffle, and many more. On top of a decadent donut lineup, they also have house-made ice cream — go ahead, get both!

The current tart option is enhanced with creamy smoked cheddar from Vtopia, a Portland vegan cheesemaker!

A trip to this magical gluten-free land of vegan goodies can’t be skipped when you’re in Portland! Even if you’re not gluten-free, after enjoying one of these spectacular treats, you’ll be thinking, gluten who!? The cheery pastel-colored bakery has absolutely every sweet treat on its lineup —sticky pecan buns, cakes, bars, ice cream, pie, and even donuts (but only on the weekend). If you’ve been missing out on something, come here!

Anyone who turns their nose up at raw desserts has yet to have one of these stunning works of vegan cheesecake art! Inside the charming café, Tiny Moreso, you’ll find a delicious lineup of Rawdacious Desserts. Sink your teeth into dark chocolate caramel, strawberry mango, peanut butter chip, and many more. Many of the flavors are seasonal, so if you see something you’ve got to have, you better get in there and grab it before it’s gone!

Aside from being entirely gluten-free, this vegan-friendly bakery also has soy-free options! Visitors will always find a drool-worthy lineup of crème pies and cupcakes, but you can’t miss their loaded cookies! These amped-up cookies are loaded with salted caramel, cream cheese, and much more!

Kate’s Ice Cream

Gluten-free friends, you might be getting a little spoiled in Portland — on top of being fully vegan, Kate’s is also gluten-free! When you walk in, you’ll be smitten with the mint chip and pastel pink décor, but as soon as you look at the menu, you’ll be in full-blown love! These house-made flavors are far from basic — Marionberry cobbler, salted peanut butter brittle, cookie monster, and so much more. You also can’t skip their crunchy, sweet, house-made waffle cones, which are also perfect for loading up multiple flavors.
