Tampa Vegan Bakery Guide: 8 Spots for Cake & Dessert

I went to Tampa with low expectations and came out with a sugar high! Although the vegan bakery scene isn’t massive, what it lacks in size, it makes up for in quality. I think my jaw actually dropped when I walked into a few of these spots and found endless rows of plump donuts, cakes, croissants, ice cream, and more.

It was pure sugar heaven!

We enjoyed some of these spots so much that after we left, we tried to reconfigure our itinerary to return — we needed just one more treat! No matter what your sweet tooth is on the hunt for in Tampa (or St. Pete), I know you’ll find it at one of these fantastic vegan bakeries and dessert spots!

The Best Vegan Bakeries in Tampa & St. Pete

In addition to visiting a vegan bakery or two, be sure to check out this lineup of the best vegan food in Tampa & St. Pete!

#1 Valhalla Bakery

2444 Central Ave, St. Petersburg, FL 3371
I think I stood in front of their dessert case for like 15 minutes before finally making a decision — absolutely everything looked amazing. You’ll find giant rice crispies peppered with colorful sprinkles, bright pink cake slices, golden croissants, petite cupcakes, lavender scones, and so much more. Now you can see why I struggled to decide! Another fabulous bonus: they have gluten-free treats, too — I highly recommend a slice of their ultra-fudgy chocolate cake. You won’t believe it’s vegan and gluten-free!

#2 Valkyrie

2444 Central Ave, St. Petersburg, FL 33712
The lovely folks who created Valhalla are also behind this excellent vegan donut shop! So, when I visited, these two terrific spots were neighbors, but to manage expenses and keep both spots churning out delicious treats, they needed to combine their operations. This is a good thing for you because now you can really load up on treats all at one stop! These aren’t your basic, boring cake donuts; these are creative, plump dough masterpieces! They have a rotating lineup of flavors, but a few fabulous favorites include maple bacon, matcha green tea, coconut cold brew, strawberry Nutella filled, and many more! Good luck getting out of here without a half dozen or more — it’s hard to say no!

#3 HaleLife Bakery

11270 4th St N, St. Petersburg, FL 33716
Vegan and gluten-free friends, this spot is for you! Everything inside this sugar shack is not only vegan but also gluten-free — you might not believe it (I actually had to double-check). But wait, there is more; besides being vegan and gluten-free, everything is also soy, peanut, and tree-nut (except coconut) free! You’ll find Oreo cheesecake donuts, brookies, oatmeal cream pies, cookie dough cupcakes, and much more! On top of sweets, they also have a bistro menu with all-day breakfast favorites, pizza pinwheels, sandwiches, and more!

#4 WeVegan Café

4326 S Manhattan Ave, Tampa, FL 33611
How about a cinnamon roll with your latte? You can get that here and more! The charming vegan café greets you with a dessert case filled with all sorts of tasty treasures, like carrot cake cookie sandwiches, slices of banana bread, golden pastries, cookies, and much more. But the fun doesn’t end there. In addition to the sweets, they’ve also got a terrific breakfast and lunch menu with veggie sausage-stuffed burritos, veggie bacon sammies, and much more.

#5 Cinnaholic

927 S Howard Ave, Tampa, FL 33606
I remember when Cinnaholic first opened just a couple of locations, and now they’re practically everywhere with their vegan cinnamon rolls! In case you’re unfamiliar, this sweet franchise has a cult following for its decadent, over-the-top cinnamon roll creations. Of course, you can enjoy them the good old-fashioned way with vanilla frosting, or you can go wild! They’ve got rolls topped with chocolate chip cookie dough, peanut butter frosting, marshmallows, pie crumble, and more! While the cinnamon rolls are the stars of the show, they’ve also got super fudgy brownies, cookies, edible cookie dough, and even bite-sized baby buns in case a full bun is too much for you!

Vegan Ice Cream Spots in Tampa & St. Pete

For a real treat combo, grab a few scoops (or a pint) at one of these vegan ice cream spots to go along with your cake, brownie, donut, or whatever you choose!

#6 Tru Vegan Creamery

1499 N Nebraska Ave, Tampa, FL 33602
The dynamic trio behind this vegan ice cream shop was unimpressed by the non-dairy ice cream scene in 2017, so they set out to change that! Their frozen scoops are made with a creamy coconut base into fan-favorite flavors like Key Lime You’re Mine, Birthday Behavior, So So Berry, and more! While an ice cream cone is great, the fun doesn’t end there. You can get one of their flavors mixed up in an old-school milkshake with peanut butter, chocolate, and cookies. And if you’re looking for something lighter, they’ve got that too; check out their Lux Slushes, a refreshing mix of fruit, perfect for the Florida heat!

#7 Plant Love Ice Cream

953 Central Ave, St. Petersburg, FL 33705
As we were driving down Central Ave, a “plant and ice cream” sign caught my attention, and I thought, could it be vegan?! We actually hunted down a parking spot to find out (that would have been a real disappointment if it ended up being moo-filled ice cream). The cute spot in the heart of St. Pete makes all of its flavors with secret family recipes and has over 50 different flavors that they rotate — that’s a lot of ice cream taste testing. You might get lucky and find a pistachio, peanut butter fudge ripple, matcha, mint fudge brownie, and more. Now, deciding what to get is hard, and they have an answer: ice cream flights! You can choose five different flavors (why don’t all ice cream spots do that?)!

#8 Coco N’Ice

3407 S MacDill Ave, Tampa, FL 33629
Coconut is the name of the game at this vegan ice cream and dessert shop! The flavors are made with fresh young coconut meat, sweetened with dates, and enhanced with superfoods like spirulina, raw cacao, turmeric, and more. You’ll find great flavors like mango, passionfruit, soursop, pistachio, and more. In addition to ice cream scoops, they’ve also got vegan and gluten-free ice cream sandwiches, fruity smoothies, acai bowls, raw cakes, and more!
