The Best Vegan Bakeries in Austin

If you’re looking for decadent cakes, and chewy cookies, you’re in the right place! It’s guaranteed you’ll find something you’ve got to devour at one of Austin vegan bakeries!

#1 Zucchini Kill Bakery

701 E 53rd St Suite C, Austin, TX 78751
This girl-power, punk rock bakeshop is ready to rock your tastebuds with its sinful lineup of vegan, gluten-free, and soy-free treats! You’ll find a never-ending lineup of irresistible cupcake flavors — German chocolate, strawberry cheesecake, lemon ginger, and more! But what you can’t skip is their veganized retro faves — when was the last time you had a Twinkie or a Swiss cake roll?

If that sparked your interest, check out their Twinkie-like Cream Coffins, Rebel Swrrl chocolate rolls, or Black Moon Pies! If you can’t make it to the bakeshop, their desserts, and sweets are also sold at a few food trucks and coffee shops around Austin.

#2 Cinnaholic

10000 Research Blvd UNIT 136, Austin, TX 78759
What would you say if I said there is a vegan shop dedicated to outrageously creative and delicious cinnamon rolls? Probably, “No way!” Well, how about, “Yes way!”

This shark-tank-funded bakeshop is baking up a cinnamon swirl storm with its epic bun creations — these aren’t your basic Sunday buns! You’ll find cinnamon rolls covered in candied almond frosting, graham cracker crumbs, chocolate, cookie dough, and so much more.

And, if that weren’t enough, they also sell cookie dough sundaes topped with chocolate frosting and strawberry jam, as well as cookies and brownies. I think it’s safe to say you might end up in a sugar coma here!

#3 Mr. Natural

Two locations in Austin
Honestly, I came in here for breakfast but stayed for the giant vegan and gluten-free cookies, fudgy donuts, and peanut butter-covered cakes! This family-owned vegetarian restaurant and bakery is absolute heaven; your jaw will drop as soon as you see their dessert case.

In the downtown location, there are two dessert cases — one for cakes and one for other sweets (make sure you give both a good look). You’ll find row after row of colorful sprinkle-covered cookies, traditional Mexican conchas, sweet-filled empanadas, and more! On top of the epic vegan lineup, they also have fantastic vegan and gluten-free options — don’t skip the fudge-covered mini donuts; even if you’re not gluten-free, you’ll fall in love.

Vegan Ice Cream Spots in Austin

I scream, you scream, we all scream for VEGAN ice cream! Whether you’re looking for a creative flavor made with an avocado base or a fruity concoction, these spots have you covered.

#4 Milky Way Shakes

2324 E Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78702
This was my first visit to a vegan milkshake truck, and I hope it’s not my last! These creative concoctions are blended with coconut and almond milk to make them ultra-creamy and then enhanced with a magical blend of Willy Wonka-approved treats.

From the basic Buzz Aldrin (coffee and almond toffee) to Star-Berry Lemon Cloud (strawberry compote and lemon curd, topped with meringue clouds and edible glitter), you’ll have a difficult decision to make. If you’d rather create your own masterpiece, you can from their mile-long list of add-ins that include Oreos, locally-made brownies, fudge, glitter stars, and more!

#5 Zeds Real Fruit Ice Cream

1814 Harvey St, Austin, TX 78702
For a taste of New Zealand, check out this vegan-friendly soft-serve shop! First, start with their vegan vanilla base and then choose a fruity enhancement like banana, blackberry, or strawberry to bring it to life. After, top it with toasted coconut, chopped nuts, or sprinkles, and enjoy!

#6 Gati Ice Cream

1512 Holly St, Austin, TX 78702
This sweet little sugar shack looks as if it’s been covered in a giant scoop of mint chip and topped with sprinkles — it’s irresistible even before you sample a flavor. Gati is one part vegan creamery and vegan-friendly bakery, but 100% gluten-free!

All of their ice cream flavors are house-made and range from traditional vanilla bean to Black Sticky Rice Horchata and Golden Milk — it’s a good thing that they let you sample because deciding is tough! You can also pair your scoop with one of their vegan cookies or brownies.

#7 Luv Fats Ice Cream

7135 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78752
Who knew avocados could make ridiculously decadent ice cream?!The family behind this shop did and decided they needed to share their creamy secret with the public — thank goodness they did! The unique flavor lineup is all made by hand and rotates regularly to showcase local and seasonal inspiration. You might get lucky and find fan-favorite flavors like Kenyan Coffee, Sourdough Toast with Peach Jam, or Colombian Chocolate.

Sweet Vegan Coffee Shops in Austin

If you think coffee and treats go together like peanut butter and jelly, don’t skip visiting one of these vegan coffee shops!

#8 Dear Diary Coffeehouse

1212 Chicon St #103, Austin, TX 78702
This local artist haven meets caffeine pitstop is the perfect place to come for a house-made specialty pick-me-up — I suggest the Cleopatra Chai or Chagaccino infused with a super-power shroom blend.

On top of the stellar lineup of coffee and tea, you’ll also be delighted with their plump pop tarts filled with strawberry jam, giant peanut butter cups, donuts, and muffins. Many of their sweet treats regularly rotate as other local vegan businesses and pop-ups supply some of them.

#9 Fat Cats Organic Coffee & Desserts

7020 Easy Wind Dr # 140, Austin, TX 78752
Is there a more purrfect combo than a piping hot cup of joe and a light and buttery croissant? I don’t think so! At this kitty-loving coffee and bakery, you can get a caffeinated jolt with a sweet Horchata or cold brew that will pair perfectly with all of their stellar baked goods — coffee cake, chocolate croissants, scones, and much more!

Aside from sweet treats, they also have savory options like ham and cheeze croissants, empanadas, and BBQ brisket kolache!

Honorable Austin Vegan Bakery Mention

If you like donuts, don’t miss the epic vegan creations at this vegan-friendly bakery!

#10 Voodoo Donuts

212 E 6th St, Austin, TX 78701
This Portland-based donut shop has brought its over-the-top donut creations to downtown Austin! The chain is well known for infusing humor and decadence into its fried dough, and that doesn’t stop with the vegan options.

For a special treat, grab one of their Voodoo Dolls filled with raspberry jelly and covered in chocolate with a fun pretzel stake — you won’t find anything like it anywhere else!
