I am not kidding when I say you need two orders of those incredible Birria tacos! These little tortillas of joy are packed with savory veggie meat, melty cheese, and come with a flavorful dipping consommé — talking about them makes my mouth water!

In addition to the killer Birria tacos, this Austin vegan Mexican spot has almost everything you could wish for and more! It’s hard to pass up their giant loaded burritos, flautas topped with cashew crema, crispy chalupas, and much more! Make sure you also pair your order with a tall glass of their sweet Hempchata — a house-made Horchata made with nutty hemp milk.

What to get: an order of creative Bomb nachos!

This community-focused vegan food truck is slinging loads of creative Tex-Mex-inspired eats — there are no bland black bean tacos here! When you roll out of bed, head here for a couple of their savory breakfast tacos loaded with scrambled tofu, chorizo, spicy sausage, Ranchito sauce, and much more!

If you don’t make it here for a breakfast taco (breakfast is served until 4 PM), no worries; there is so much more to sample! Their all-day menu features massive burritos, even more tacos, and epic Bomb nachos! These nachos are loaded with traditional fixins’ like veggie ground beef, queso, pickled jalapenos, and so many more unique concoctions! If you’re looking for something different, don’t pass up the KBBQ nachos loaded with Korean BBQ chick’n, green onions, queso, and more.

What to get: savory tofu Migas!

If you love a hearty, savory breakfast as much as I do, you must go here! This family-run vegetarian Mexican spot serves up a mouthwatering lineup of authentic eats without meat or dairy! 

In the morning, this is the perfect place to come to make sure you’re fully fueled for the whole day — seriously, you won’t be hungry for a while! Almost all of their breakfast plates have vegan options. If this is your first visit, you can’t pass up their special Tofu Migas made with scrambled tofu and simmered for hours in their house-made salsa ranchera. 

If you’re in the mood for tacos, no worries; they’ve got plenty! You can either build your own taco feast or try out one of their specialties loaded with seitan fish, veggie bacon, potatoes, tofu scramble, and more.

What to get: a giant, loaded burrito!

Burrito lovers, you can’t miss this fan-favorite burrito spot! They are well known for stuffing every savory veggie thing they can into these giant burritos, from smoked tempeh to cilantro lime crema!

If burritos aren’t your jam, that’s no problem; they have plenty of other Mexican-inspired delights! You’re guaranteed to love their creamy frijoles con queso or unique Freeto Pies (tempeh chili on top of corn chips, topped with avocado and cheese).

What to get: crispy flautas covered in house-made avocado sauce!

This vegan spot is famous! No, seriously, you might have caught them on Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives!” The show highlighted their fantastic Mexican street food, and the popularity allowed them to grow their business — YAY!

No matter what you’re craving, I bet they’ve got it! Their menu is full of creative, veganized classics — tacos, burritos, flautas, tortas, and more! You’re pretty much guaranteed to love absolutely everything, but I’m particularly obsessed with flautas, especially if they’re covered in house-made avocado sauce and crema!

#5 Veracruz All Natural

You’ll find these vegan-friendly taco spots peppered all over Austin, making it easy to get your fix no matter where in town you are! They have two vegan taco options, which are marked (thank you!) — El Diferente Taco (refried beans, potato, mushroom, peppers, corn, and avocado) and Furioso Taco (refried beans, cauliflower, carrot, corn, spinach, salsa, and avocado).

Make sure you also grab a side of their vegan cashew queso to dip your tacos!
