O Macrobiotico

R. do Bonfim 63, 4300-069 Porto, Portugal
Vegan, macrobiotic focused café with a set daily menu.

Outside of Porto’s main tourist haunts is this charming café. If you’re craving a nourishing, home-cooked meal, O Macrobiotico is the place to go. This peaceful spot follows a macrobiotic philosophy, serving balanced dishes made from organic and local ingredients. Expect soups, salads, and hearty mains that change daily — all bursting with wholesome flavor. I really liked that there was a set menu, so there was no indecision but for some people the lack of choice might be a bummer. If you’re one of those, I’d say, still give it a try!

It’s the kind of spot that feels like a reset for both body and mind, offering simple, thoughtful food in a warm, welcoming space.

Modern & welcoming vegan restaurant that celebrates global cuisine.

Before I even got to my seat, I was greeted with a giant sign proclaiming, “Be kind to every kind.” Just from that, I knew this would be a fabulous spot. This fully plant-based restaurant re-imagines comfort food favorites like tacos, burgers, and even the beloved Portuguese francesinha — complete with a vegan “egg” on top.

The dishes are colorful, the vibe is upbeat, and the cocktails are just as impressive as the menu (I had so many food photos from here it was hard to choose which to include)! This is one of those places that you’ll want to visit more than once — it’s definitely worth it if you have the space in your itinerary.

This beautifully designed restaurant blends contemporary style with plant-based innovation, offering creative interpretations of Portuguese and international cuisine. Locals shared with me that this spot usually has a delicious lunch buffet with tasty items like spinach and mushroom lasagna, moussaka, or carrot and walnut meatballs but when I visited, there was no buffet to be found. It’s possible that it’s possible that they’re changing things up, but it’s a good thing to know so you’re not surprised.

Instead of the buffet, we were greeted with a standard menu that had a mix of globally inspired options. It seems that the real stars on the menu on their house-made burgers and sandwiches. The atmosphere is casual and friendly, making it a great midday stop between sightseeing adventures.
