7 London Michelin-Starred Vegan Restaurants You Must Visit

London is one of my favorite cities to visit, there’s so much to see and do, it’s truly magical! A short break is never enough; when you come to the end of the trip, you’ll have serious FOMO and want to book your next trip immediately!

It’s also one of the most vegan-friendly cities in the world!

If you choose carefully where you dine, you can experience some of the best plant-based fine dining. For a city that caters so well to vegans, and perhaps a little surprisingly – they don’t have very many exclusively vegan Michelin-starred restaurants in London, currently all of the vegan restaurants fall on Michelin’s recommended list, which is no small feat!

It’s a bit of a shock, right!?

Fortunately, there are also many other Michelin-Starred and recommended restaurants that realized they need to cater to vegans — yay! No matter where you choose, you’re bound to have an exceptional dining experience.

From delicious Chinese to French and even a vegan afternoon tea – there will be something to please everyone in this fabulous English capital!

Please note that most of these Michelin-starred and recommended vegan & vegan-friendly restaurants have a seasonal menu, so if you plan to visit at another time of the year, you’ll likely be presented with a different menu.

#1 Gauthier Soho

21 Romilly Street, London W1D 5AF
Michelin Recommended

This incredible restaurant is headed by MasterChef’s Alexis Gauthier in Soho, London. It is one of the best Michelin-Starred vegan restaurants in London with a tantalizing plant-based seasonal menu to delight vegans and non-vegans alike!

The eight-course “Grand Diner” menu features dishes such as Braised carrot with truffle balsam broth, with chive and roasted hazelnut; or Butternut curry poulet with mango and pineapple; and for dessert, clementine, pineapple, coriander sorbet; and pear choco mirror.

Gauthier Soho is redefining fine dining without the use of animal products! With such an extensive menu, there will be something to please even the most skeptical guests!

Naïfs offers a seasonal set menu with the abundance and beauty found in plants and in a warm, homely environment, brought to you by a family team in Southeast London! They’re only open Thursday – Saturday, 6 – 11 PM, and last dinner orders are at 9:30 PM. Make sure you plan ahead so you’re not disappointed.

On the set menu, there’s smokey celeriac with onion and pepper sauce, Radicchio and lentil salad with sunchoke crisps and garlic tofu sauce, plus Braised white carrots and potatoes, mushroom preserve, leek and horseradish cream — doesn’t this all sound incredible!?

#3 Bubula

65 Commercial Street, Tower Hamlets, London, E1 6BD(Spitalfields)
15 Poland Street, London, W1F 8QE (Soho)
Michelin Recommended

Bubala is a vegetarian restaurant with two locations in London, Spitalfields and Soho. The name Bubala means “darling” in Yiddish, and they serve the most vibrant Middle Eastern food in an upscale setting. Choose from a set menu or an a la carte menu, or you can even order for delivery!

Although not solely a vegan restaurant, the vegan menu features dishes such as pickle plate,  Laffa bread (NGF), hummus with harissa, apricot, and jalapeño oil; Baba ghanoush with curry leaf oil and pine nuts; Oyster mushroom skewer with tamari, and coriander seed; Leek skewer with amba, smacked cucumbers, tahini, and chili crunch; Falafel with tahini, amba, and sumac onions.

It also states on the menu when the food is not gluten-free (NGF), contains peanuts, or can be made nut-free on request.

The next restaurants on this list are not exclusively vegan/vegetarian restaurants. However, they have fabulous options on their menus and are worth your consideration!

#4 Galvin La Chapelle

35 Spital Square, Tower Hamlets, London, E1 6DY
One Michelin Star

Galvin La Chapelle is a truly up-market French restaurant in Spitalfields. Their focus in the kitchen is a seasonal and sustainable menu. The head chef, Arturo Granato, works closely with chefs Patron’s Chris & Jeff Galvin to produce a fantastic menu with bold flavors and a balance of different textures – while also maintaining the restaurant’s core values.

They have separate vegan and vegetarian menus, which is fantastic for your next veggie trip! Their vegan menu features dishes such as Puy lentil veloute with miso, rainbow chard, and late-season radicchio and Roasted Delica pumpkin with black garlic, cavolo nero, and winter truffle – I’m drooling just thinking about it; what about you!?

Please note when visiting, they share a building with their sister restaurant, Galvin Bistro & Bar, so the entrance to this restaurant is on Spital Square.

#5 Ritz Restaurant

150 Piccadilly, St James’s, London, W1J 9BR
One Michelin Star

If you want to be treated like royalty during your London break, you have to visit the Ritz! The dress code is strict; gentlemen are to wear a jacket and tie, and absolutely no jeans or sportswear is allowed for anyone in the restaurant.

It might sound a little excessive, but if you want the royal treatment, then that’s what you’ll get in jolly ole’ England!

For up to six guests, they have a 3-course vegan/vegetarian menu. This menu features mouth-watering dishes like potato boulangère with watercress and lovage, and for dessert, dark chocolate ganache with banana and coconut – my mouth is watering thinking about the dessert!

Lunch and Dinner timings are as follows: Lunch 12:30 pm – 1:45 pm, Dinner 6:30 pm – 8:45 pm If you’d prefer a classic vegan British afternoon tea, they have specific afternoon tea sittings – 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM, 3:30 PM, 5:30 PM, or 7:30 PM. Whatever you decide, make sure you book in advance and request vegan menus!

#6 Pied à Terre

34 Charlotte Street, Bloomsbury, London, W1T 2NH
One Michelin Star

Pied à Terre is one of the longest-standing independent Michelin-starred restaurants in London! It was founded by David Moore in 1991, and they’re particularly proud of their recent award of the number one vegan tasting experience in the UK.

Their plant-based menu has tantalizing dishes such as tagliatelle carbonara with kala namak, turmeric, macadamia nuts, and lemon balm; and Smoked Italian artichoke with vegetable ragu, monk’s beard, mushroom jus, and black truffle; and for dessert, ethically sourced 70% Mayan red Honduras cocoa chocolate mousse, chestnuts, Delica pumpkin, and nutmeg.

Doesn’t it all sound amazing!?

What I also like about Pied à Terre is that they plant trees for every bill – it’s always good to see restaurants doing that bit extra for sustainability!

#7 Hakkasan

8 Hanway Place, Bloomsbury, London, W1T 1HD
7 Bruton Street, Mayfair, London, W1J 6QB
Michelin Recommended

Hakkasan was born in London in 2001 with modern Chinese cuisine, and their restaurants have the most romantic vibe. The perfect to take your special someone for a date!

Hakkasan has 14 different locations worldwide, including two locations in London. The other locations are spread over Europe, the USA, the Middle East, and Asia. The Hanway Place restaurant has held its Michelin Star since 2003 and Mayfair since 2011. Are you impressed, because I was!?

Both restaurants have a vegan menu called Chrysanthemum; it’s exquisite and features their famous dishes: vegan dim sum, which is golden squash and lily bulb; black pepper shui mai, sugar snap and edamame, wild mushroom with black truffle, and bean curd wrap; as well as tofu, aubergine, and Japanese mushroom clay pot, with chili and black bean sauce.
