Why is Bali So Vegan-Friendly?

While celebrating the powers of plants might be a newer concept to some cultures, it’s old news in Bali. Traditional Balinese culture has long embraced plant-based ingredients, and many traditional dishes focus on rice, vegetables, tempeh, tofu, and spices (one important note: look out for shrimp paste, it’s a hidden ingredient). Balinese culture also emphasizes respect for animals, which for many extends to food choices.

In addition to that, Bali’s growth as a tourist hot spot and the rise of veganism has also played a role in making it even more vegan-friendly. Visitors worldwide have brought a demand for more of these products and options, increasing vegan and vegetarian restaurants, cafes, and even vegan-friendly hotels and resorts.
