Miami Vegan Bakery Guide: 5 Spots for Cake & Dessert
Miami’s vegan scene is on the rise, and that includes fabulous vegan and vegan-friendly bakeries that must be added to your itinerary! If this is your first visit to the sunny city, you might be surprised to learn it’s not always been this veggie-friendly.
My first visit was over a decade ago, and at that time, I was just a vegetarian. All I really remember eating was an abundance of chips and salsa and banana pancakes — not much of a culinary affair, even for a vegetarian. Fast-forward many years later — my most recent visit was way more memorable. I found everything from sophisticated fine dining to the cutest cafes with plump cupcakes and chewy cookies. So, let’s skip to the sweet stuff and get you on your way to a sugar high at one or all of these vegan and vegan-friendly bakeries in Miami!
The Best Vegan Bakeries & Dessert Spots in Miami
L’Artisane Bakery & Bistro
2526 Ponce de Leon, Coral Gables, FL 33134
If you only have time to visit one spot on this list, it must be L’Artisane! As soon as you walk through the doors of this chic plant-based patisserie, your jaw will drop. Everything from the perfectly glazed pastries to the golden and flaky croissants is downright perfect. When I first walked in and looked at the pastry case, I was in awe and had to ask, “Everything is vegan?” The staff must get that a lot and also be slightly annoyed that I was totally oblivious to their “Fabulous vegan” neon sign on the wall!
Deciding what to order is nearly impossible, so you need to come hungry and with a Tupperware container to take things home with you. I promise you’ll thank me later for that! You’ll find a gorgeous array of expertly crafted pastries, all lined up like little sweet soldiers. For croissant and pastry lovers, you’ll want to try the guava and cream cheese Danish, coconut dulce de leche cruffin, pain au chocolate, and probably a few more things, too! They also have a stellar lineup of creative donuts, cookies, macarons, and gluten-free treats!
Courtney’s Cookies
955 Alton Rd, Miami Beach, FL 33139 (Inside Alton Food Hall)
The last time I visited Miami, I just happened to find these delicious vegan and gluten-free ice cream cookie sandwiches at one of the food trucks. Since then, their cookie footprint has grown—yay! You can find these sweet sandwiches at The Alton Food Hall, the Coconut Grove Farmer’s Market, and various local shops and cafes. The ice cream cookie sandwiches come in fun flavor combinations like strawberry shortcake, coconut cardamom, and blue vanilla magic. If you’d prefer just the cookie, you can get those sans ice cream, along with brownies, and cookie cakes (pre-order only).
EYA Vegan Cakes
So, if you’re looking for something special for a birthday or other celebration, check out this vegan bakeshop! They don’t have a storefront (just yet), so you can only order online or by phone. This family-run bakery that fuses its South American heritage in every bite! You’ll find pineapple cake, pumpkin flan cake, coconut cake, sponge cake, and more on the menu.
Vegan-Friendly Bakeries in Miami
The Salty
Multiple locations throughout Miami
This donut shop is well known for its over-the-top donut creations; although the options for us aren’t lengthy (they usually just have one vegan donut), it’s still delicious and worth the visit. They generally release a seasonal vegan flavor and currently all of their store have a chocolatey vegan Ultimate Oreo Cookie donut — don’t miss it!
Archetti’s Bakery
5040 NE 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33137
Tucked into the shops at Upper Buena Vista is this little vegan-friendly sweet shop. Their menu is well-marked and always has multiple vegan options like sweet carrot cake, creamy cheesecake, rich chocolate mousse, Italian biscotti, and more.
