Can’t Miss Vegan & Vegetarian Restaurants in Ann Arbor

#1 The Lunch Room

2200 Fuller Ct # 8B, Ann Arbor, MI 48105
This quaint breakfast and lunch café has been a staple in the Ann Arbor vegan community since 2015. There’s really nowhere better to start your day!

In the morning, you’ll want to sink your teeth into one of their epic breakfast sandwiches — the Billie Jean Biscuit and Hangover Cure are fan favorites. If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, they also have house-made granola parfaits, breakfast tacos, baked goods, and more! When lunch rolls around, they’ve got an eclectic lineup of flavors to delight your taste buds — Bibimpap, burrito bowls, chickpea tuna wraps, and so much more.

One important note, they are only open Monday – Friday.

#2 Detroit Street Filling Station

300 Detroit St, Ann Arbor, MI 48104
You can start your day at The Lunch Room and end it at its little sister, Detroit Street Filling Station! This community-focused vegan restaurant was created inside the historic Staebler Family Oil Company filling station — seems like the appropriate way to green up space, right?

Their comfort-focused menu has a diverse mix of flavors. If you’re in the mood for something green, check out their hearty salad lineup — the Lumber Jack and Taco ‘Bout It will get you fueled and feeling good! But don’t worry; there’s way more than salad! You’ve also got to check out their specialty raspberry grilled cheese, savory Reuben on house-made rye, chick’n fried tofu fingers, and so much more.

Just make sure you save room for one of their fudgy brownies!

#3 North Star Lounge

301 N 5th Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48104
Ann Arbor is so hip; it even has a vegan bar! There is no better place to go when you’re in the mood for live music, vegan eats, and a cocktail!

Although the food menu isn’t extensive, what it lacks in size, it makes up for in deliciousness! Pair your Highball with an order of buffalo cauliflower wings, crispy tater tots, or creamy spinach artichoke dip! In addition to small bites, they have a few other larger entrees, like a giant queso stuffed burrito and a spicy buffalo wrap.

During the week, don’t miss their fun happy hour from 6 – 6:30 PM

#4 Seva

Westgate Shopping Center, 2541 Jackson Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48103
Since the early 70s, Seva has been pushing the veggie-propaganda — way before vegetarianism or veganism was mainstream (It was one of the first very vegan-friendly restaurants in Ann Arbor)! Their globally-inspired menu is filled with a little bit of everything — from veggie-packed salads to creamy vegan mac-n-cheese.

While their menu is vegetarian, there are many vegan options, and many things can easily be made vegan. First-time visitors shouldn’t miss their slightly spicy but oh-so-irresistible cashew cheese nacho dip!

They also have a small breakfast menu that’s served all day!

#5 Earthen Jar

311 S 5th Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48104
Go to town, and load up your plate with tantalizing masala tofu and crispy samosas at this self-serve vegetarian Indian restaurant.

The menu is super well-marked for vegan and gluten-free options — you’ll be pleased to see that most of it is vegan — yay! Don’t be shy; you’ve got to try all their house-made favorites — Dal, chickpea salad, Matar Alu (potatoes and peas in a traditional curry), Alu Bhaji (spicy masala potatoes), and so much more.

It’s always nice to take a to-go bag home from here!

Throughout the menu, you’ll be able to sample fare from other local businesses and farms, as it’s a priority for the owners to source as much as they can locally and seasonally.

You can’t go wrong with a veggie-packed Power Bowl or a giant loaded burrito with crispy roasted potatoes and tempeh chorizo for breakfast. Check out their house-made tahini chickpea burger with cashew sauce or a zesty tempeh Reuben at lunch!

#7 Blue Nile Ethiopian Restaurant

Skip the fork and dive into a platter of harmoniously cooked and spiced veggies with traditional Injera at this Ethiopian spot. Their menu is very vegan-friendly, including a vegetable section that is free of meat and dairy products.

The best way to enjoy a meal here is with a vegetarian feast — it includes all of their house-made veggie dishes except one, giving layers of flavor to eat your way through!

#8 VKitchen

For piping hot bowls of Pho and spicy tofu, there’s no better spot in Ann Arbor than VKitchen!

The menu at this Vietnamese spot includes traditional favorites, along with a bit of Asian fusion, but the best part is their vegan menu — no need to guess what’s safe or not! Start with an order of crispy fried vegan egg rolls, then go for the traditional Pho or their savory and sweet sticky rice topped with stir-fried veggies.
