Spots for a Scoop (or two, or three!) of Vegan Gelato in Florence
#1 Raw Vegan Firenze
Via Sant’Agostino, 11B, 50125 Firenze FI, Italy
This charming vegan café is helping people indulge in the healthiest way possible with its house-made lineup of raw vegan gelato. The flavor lineup varies and can be enjoyed simply on its own or with fresh fruit, as a banana split, or affogato (three scoops with their carob espresso and fresh fruit).
In addition to the gelato, they make insanely decadent raw chocolate desserts and cheesecakes that are to die for! Come with friends and get a little bit of everything to sample — you won’t be disappointed! One last thing, in the morning, this is a great spot for vegan breakfast eats in Florence, too!
#2 Cortese Café 900
P.za di Santa Maria Novella, 12R, 50123 Firenze FI, Italy
Your mouth will water as soon as you step foot in this fantastic vegan and gluten-free patisserie. Getting out of here without ordering everything is an Olympic feat! Like the first spot, the team behind this delicious cafe makes everything by hand without using refined sugars or gluten. Their ultra-creamy flavors rotate regularly, but you might be lucky and find dark chocolate, hazelnut, strawberry, and more.
The sweets don’t end with gelato here! In addition to the decadent scoops, their pastry case is lined with raw nut-based tarts, cookies, chocolates, and so much more. I’m not lying when I say I stood there dumbfounded by what to choose for five minutes!

Quite a few gelato shops in Florence will have sorbet and maybe a couple of other dairy-free options, but for the best selection, check out these spots.
#3 Perché no!…
Via dei Tavolini, 19r, 50122 Firenze FI, Italy
When I asked about vegan options at this family-run spot, they didn’t hesitate and walked me to an entire case filled with almost ten delicious flavors! I didn’t know where to start! The flavor lineup changes from time to time, but you might find fabulous options like watermelon, hazelnut, banana, pistachio, and more.
#4 Gelateria Edoardo il Gelato Biológico
Piazza del Duomo, 45/R, 50122 Firenze FI, Italy
After you’ve checked out the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (Duomo), head to this little artisanal gelato spot — conveniently located right in the square that looks out to the cathedral. All of the flavors are made with organic and seasonal ingredients to create the freshest and some of the most creative flavors in town.
Their vegan menu is displayed and doesn’t just include fruit-based options. You might find chocolate with hazelnuts, dark chocolate, pistachio, and more. One flavor that I haven’t seen anywhere else that they have is red wine sorbet — winos, it’s worth a try!
#5 Ice Cream Festival
Via del Corso, 75/red, 50122 Firenze FI, Italy
A festival of ice cream, and there are vegan options? Count me in! Not far from Perché no!… is another small vegan-friendly gelateria with a fun, fruity lineup of choices. Unlike the other spot, I didn’t have to ask what was vegan as everything was clearly marked with a little green sign, making it super easy. Many of their vegan options are fruit-based and include favorites like lemon (made with lemons from Sicily), lemon and basil, passionfruit, blood orange, and more.

#6 Universo Vegano
Via Pietrapiana, 47R, 50122 Firenze FI, Italy
This bright green vegan café is a beacon of cruelty-free goodness in the city! Their dessert case is always packed with a mouthwatering lineup of sweets (including gluten-free options). Chocolate lovers won’t want to miss their special chocolate kiss or chocolate hazelnut tart topped with red berries. For something traditional, they have adorable single servings of tiramisu, along with golden croissants and chocolate or cream-filled brioche (including a gluten-free option)
#7 Base V Juicery
Via dei Neri, 46r, 50122 Firenze FI, Italy
V.le Spartaco Lavagnini, 70-72, 50129 Firenze FI, Italy (Inside the Social Hub)
It might be surprising to find a juice spot on a list of where to find the best vegan sweets, but I’m not pulling your leg! This vegetarian café and juice bar is deadest on making sure you eat your veggies but also wants to make sure that you have a little balance in your life! Next to the kale bouquets, you’ll find a lovely dessert case filled with vegan and gluten-free treats like chocolate chip peanut butter cookies, fudgy brownies, carrot cake with cashew frosting, and more!
All of their sweets are best enjoyed paired with one of their super lattes like a warm Moon Latte (a spicey blend of turmeric, nutmeg, ashwagandha, and black pepper) or Gremlin Mylk (oat milk, spirulina, raw cacao, and cacao nibs).
