Costa Rica Vegan Guides

Costa Rica is a dream destination for nature lovers, combining lush natural beauty, abundant wildlife, and a steadily growing plant-based food scene. While vegan options can be found across the country, the most vegan-friendly areas are San José, Tamarindo (there’s a vegan hotel in Tamarindo), and the popular beach towns along the Pacific Coast. San José, the capital, offers a mix of vegan and vegetarian restaurants, while the coastal towns serve up fresh, tropical-inspired vegan dishes, often highlighting the country’s abundant fruits, vegetables, and local ingredients.

Outside of the main hubs, vegan options may require more planning, especially in smaller towns or rural areas, but the country’s emphasis on fresh produce makes it easy to find plant-based staples like rice, beans, plantains, and vibrant salads.

Beyond its food, Costa Rica is an adventurer’s paradise. Whether you’re zip-lining through cloud forests, relaxing in natural hot springs, spotting sloths and toucans in the wild, or surfing world-class waves, Costa Rica offers an unforgettable mix of nature, culture, and vegan-friendly delights. Pura vida, indeed!
