Tour Highlights & Inclusions

  • Loads of amazing activities: Visit countless waterfalls (including a hike), explore Snaefellsnes Peninsula, meet with a local stone carving artisan, whale watching excursion, Vatnajokull Glacier hike, puffin watching, and much more (you can view the day-by-day itinerary below)!
  • This itinerary is planned in a way to get you away from some of the regular tourist haunts to enjoy Iceland’s beauty with fewer people.
  • Special activity: we will participate in an eco-tree planting activity in the Hvolsvollur Valley. Since the arrival of the first settlers to Iceland, deforestation has taken place in order to make space for pastures. The owners implemented a planting project on their land to contribute to lowering CO2 and counteract soil erosion.
  • A private local guide throughout the trip.
  • All hotel accommodations.

Travel Responsibly, Impact Positively

Not only can you rest assured that this trip aligns with your desire to support cruelty-free activities, but you can also feel good knowing that the carbon created from the land-based portion of the itinerary will be offset and we’ve prioritized working with local businesses so more of your dollar stays in the destination. A portion of the profits from this tour will also support a local charity.

If you’re a long-time vegan, just starting out, or coming along as moral support, Veggies Abroad is a fantastic way to travel safely, learn about a new culture, enjoy AMAZING food and meet wonderful people along the way. The hotels/resorts were very comfortable to relax in after a day full of activities. Rebecca was great at communicating and keeping the entire trip organized and fun. I highly recommend!

Are there things I should keep in mind before booking a trip like this?

Yes!
– This trip will cover A LOT of ground, which is awesome, but that means we will be on the move everyday. Although we will spend a fair amount of time in a passenger van, we will stop often as there is much to see.
– Parts of Iceland are far more vegan-friendly than others! The capital, Reykjavik has multiple vegan and vegetarian restaurants but outside of the capital all restaurants are either vegan-friendly or will cater to our group. Meals in more rural areas might be more simple than at other times.
– Iceland’s history involves whaling and hunting. It is much less of a focus today but there are still reminders of it in businesses throughout the country.
– Iceland’s weather is wild; even in May! Pack layers and prepare for everything from bright, sunny days to snow!

How many people are in the group and is there a group minimum?

This will be a small group of only 16 passengers plus a guide(s) throughout the trip. Yes, there is a minimum, we must have at least 9 passengers for the trip to be confirmed; in order to keep the pricing of $5310 pp.

What are the booking terms?

Final Balance:
Final balance payment is required 100 days prior to travel (January 31, 2025)
