Tour Itinerary

Check out the daily activities for this exciting itinerary. Please note, the itinerary is subject to change. We always have to remain flexible for weather, closures, and random things that are out of our control!

Meals Included: Welcome dinner

Welcome to Iceland! Your adventure begins in Reykjavik, Iceland’s quirky capital. Meet your group and tour leader for a 6pm welcome meeting.

If you arrive early, take a stroll and acquaint yourself with the world’s northernmost capital. Perhaps visit the National Museum to see the permanent exhibition on the history of Iceland.

After your welcome meeting, head out with your leader and small group to get to know Reykjavik’s flourishing food scene. Enjoy dinner at one of the city’s fantastic local restaurants and learn about Icelandic produce and cuisine.

Meals Included: Breakfast & Dinner

Today you’ll travel by private vehicle to the Borgarfjörður area, and visit the spectacular waterfalls of Hraunfossar (Lava Waterfalls) and Barnafossar (Children’s Waterfalls).

Continue on to Deildartunguhver, Europe’s hottest spring, before making a stop at Glaumbær Turf House, a beautifully preserved traditional farmhouse offering a glimpse into Iceland’s rural past.

In the afternoon, head to your overnight stay in the southern part of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Once settled in, gather with your group for an included dinner.

Included Activities

  • Borgarfjörður – Deildartunguhver Hot Spring
  • Borgarfjörður – Hraunfossar & Barnafoss Waterfalls
  • Glaumbær – Turf Houses

Meals Included: Breakfast & Dinner

Today you’ll continue exploring the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, home to the magnificent Snæfellsjökull Glacier, an icecap covering a dormant volcano. Along the way, visit the small town of Búðir, wander basaltic pebble beaches framed by strange lava formations, and Arnarstapi, where a short stroll along the coastal cliffs gives you access to the rich birdlife and other wonders of nature.

Later, stop in Grundarfjörður to meet local artist Liston in his workshop, where he’ll share his unique stone carvings and stories of life as an Icelandic artisan. You’ll also visit the striking Kirkjufell Mountain, one of Iceland’s most photographed landmarks, rising steeply from the surrounding landscape.

After a full day, continue to Sauðárkrókur in the north, located on the scenic Skagafjörður Fjord, where you’ll settle in for the night.

Included Activities

  • Snæfellsnes peninsula – Búðir, Arnarstapi and Djúpalónssandur.
  • Snæfellsnes peninsula – Liston’s Stone Carving Workshop
  • Snæfellsnes peninsula – Kirkjufell Mountain

Meals Included: Breakfast & Dinner

Begin the day with a scenic drive around the picturesque Tröllaskagi Peninsula, stopping in the small town of Siglufjörður. Explore its compact center, framed dramatically by mountains on three sides and opening to the fjord on the other.

Continue along the coast to dip your toes in the Arctic Ocean before heading to Hauganes for a carbon-neutral whale-watching excursion. Minke and humpback whales are commonly seen here, and the respectful approach of the boat means you’ll observe these gentle giants without disturbing them. An expert guide will be on hand to share insights about their lives in Arctic waters.

In the afternoon, travel on to Akureyri, Iceland’s second-largest town, for an orientation walk. You may like to step inside its striking church, an architectural landmark and local icon. End the day with a visit to Goðafoss, the mighty “Waterfall of the Gods,” before continuing to your hotel in Húsavík.

Included Activities:

  • Tröllaskagi Peninsula – Siglufjörður

Begin the day with a journey to Lake Mývatn, one of the most fascinating geological areas in the northern hemisphere. Along the shoreline you’ll encounter a series of natural wonders, from the lava formations of Dimmuborgir and the pseudo-craters at Skútustaðir to the steaming mud pots and sulfur vents at Námaskarð.

Later, marvel at the power of Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall, before continuing to your hotel for the evening.

  • Mývatn – Lake Mývatn
  • Mývatn – Námaskarð Mud Pools, Dimmuborgir & Skútustaðir Crater Group

Begin the morning with a hike to Hengifoss, one of Iceland’s tallest waterfalls. The trail passes striking basalt cliffs and the smaller, picturesque Litlanesfoss before reaching the dramatic cascade itself.

Continue the journey through the East Fjords, where steep mountains tumble into deep fjords and the coastline offers ever-changing views. Keep an eye out for seals along the shore as you make your way south. End the day at the famous Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, spending the night nearby.

Included Activities:

  • Hengifoss Hike
  • East Fjords – Scenic Drive

Meals Included: Breakfast, Dinner

Begin the day with an unforgettable walk on Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest ice cap, where some 30 glaciers flow out from the main body. No prior experience is needed for the hike, and your guide will ensure you’re equipped and supported. It’s a powerful experience, especially knowing that this glacier is retreating year by year due to rising global temperatures.

Later, drive across the stark black sands and lava fields created by the Laki eruption of 1782–1783 — an event that left a lasting mark on Iceland’s history and culture. Along the way, stop to admire the graceful Seljalandsfoss waterfall and the mighty Skógafoss. Cap the day with a visit to Reynisfjara, the famous black sand beach where striking basalt columns meet the crashing waves of the Atlantic.

  • I recently had an unforgettable time in Iceland

I was unsure about the idea of a group tour as you never know what types of personalities will clash, but I would do it again in a heartbeat! It was the most stress-free travel I’ve ever had because Rebecca took care of everything.

  • This is the first time I joined a vegan tour.

I will say, it is one of the best travel decisions I have ever made as it allowed me to focus on other parts of the trip without worrying about where and what to eat during the trip. Working with Rebecca was easy. She was prompt in responding to emails and very helpful.

Is This Tour For You?

This itinerary covers a lot of ground and includes many incredible activities and sights, which means there will be some long days and early mornings. Much of our journey will be by passenger van, but we’ll stop often — there’s so much to see along the way. Traveling this way allows us to experience Iceland’s incredible diversity, not just the popular tourist spots.

It’s also worth noting that some parts of Iceland are far more vegan-friendly than others, so meals in more rural areas may be simpler.

And finally, Iceland’s weather can be unpredictable and at this time of year it can be really cold. It’s important to pack layers!
